    Noël À Paris

    Wednesday, October 05, 2011 | 22:10 UTC | Posted by Violet | Touring

It may be October for the rest of us, but oh la la!, it was decidedly Christmas inside Le Grand Rex in Gay Paree!

Tori surprised the crowd by playing “Jeanette, Isabella,” “Holly, Ivy and Rose,” and a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “River.” The wintery theme bookended the show with staples “Snow Cherries From France” appearing near the beginning of the set and “Winter” capping the evening off.

As always you can relive this show (and any other!) by visiting our Tour section (link in the black bar at the top of each page) and clicking on the “flashback” link. If you were at this show, you can submit reviews, photos, and videos via the contact form at the bottom of the Paris flashback page.

Merci to @MargeOLayn and @toriamos_france on Twitter for tweeting the setlist.

Next show, Paris! If there’s even a slight chance you might be able to tweet the setlist to us live, send us an @ on Twitter in advance. We’ll check to make sure we’re following you so you can reach us via DM if you need to.

Q&A: Is There A Way To Keep Track Of Songs On Tour?

    Sunday, October 02, 2011 | 19:03 UTC | Posted by Violet | Q&A,Touring

Question: I can’t seem to pull it up or find the correct name for it, but I adored this feature you had where you kept track of what Tori played on any particular tour and did a percentage of how many times she played it and in which city. I love that stats page and I would like to volunteer (if you need help) to do this tour. — Melinda

Answer: You’re thinking of Sped Erstad’s Tori Amos Setlist Database, which is linked in the right column of our Tour page under “Useful Tour Stuffs.” And it’s back for the Night Of Hunters tour. Go nuts!

    This House Is Like Moscow

    Sunday, October 02, 2011 | 18:36 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

This evening, Tori returned to Moscow’s Crocus City Hall for her second performance there — just over one year after her first ever concert in Russia in 2010.

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section. Tonight’s show featured a number of unexpected surprises performed solo, including “Carbon,” “Liquid Diamonds,” “Pandora’s Aquarium,” and covers of “Scarborough Fair” and Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne” James Taylor’s “Fire And Rain.” The second encore was particularly striking: “Josephine,” “Bachelorette,” and “Siren.” The rest of the concert was rounded out with the core songs performed with the Apollon Musagete Quartett.

We’d love to hear reports about the performance from those lucky enough to attend! If you’d care to share your thoughts, please do so using the comment form on the Moscow page.

Many thanks to @tindog_k9, @mo8x and @meprobably for sending in the setlist via Twitter!

Q&A: Is There Night Of Hunters-Specific Merchandise At The Shows?

    Friday, September 30, 2011 | 22:14 UTC | Posted by Violet | Q&A,Touring

Question: Any word yet on whether there is NOH specific merchandise (t-shirts) being sold at the concerts? — @umokaywhatevers via Twitter

Answer: Yes, all merchadise on the Night Of Hunters tour is NOH-specific. And that includes t-shirts.

Helsinki: The First Night of Hunters

    Thursday, September 29, 2011 | 02:31 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The first date of the Night of Hunters Tour is in the books! Kicking off the tour in Helsinki, Tori and the Apollon Musagète Quartett ripped through a set featuring several songs from the new record as well as reaching back into the back catalog for old gems.

Songs featured included “Shattering Sea” opening the performance, just as it opens Night of Hunters, “Suede,” “Baker Baker.” “Cruel,” and “Snow Cherries From France,” all performed with the Quartett! There were two solo sections during the main set as well, during which Tori performed “Mrs. Jesus,” “Marianne,” “Sister Janet,” and U2’s “Running To Stand Still.” Additionally, the first encore started with “A Multitude of Shades,” the instrumental piece the quartet wrote specifically for the tour — as promised in our interview with Pawel Zalejski. The full set list has been posted in the Tour section.

The main set opened and closed with the quartet and, as mentioned, included two solo segments, leaving a third segment with the quartet in the middle. There were two encores, the first with the quartet and the second mostly solo until the final number, “Carry.” We shall see if this formula remains the case for other shows on the tour or if the plan for the shows varies as it progresses and develops…

Finally, if you were at the show, we’d love to hear what you thought of the concert! If you are inclined to share, please leave a review using the comment form on the show’s page! Video and photography are welcomed too!

Don't Look Now! It's The Night Of Hunters Tour!

    Wednesday, September 28, 2011 | 03:58 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 28th, the European leg of the Night of Hunters Tour gets under way in Helsinki, Finland, followed closely by the two Russian shows, St. Petersburg on Friday and Moscow on Sunday. After that, Tori meanders around the rest of the Continent, the UK, South Africa and North America, ending the tour in Texas in late December.

As with the past few tours, we’ll be doing our best to keep you abreast of setlists, reviews and media from the tour in our Tour section including, as we can, posting setlists as they happen on each concert page and on our Twitter.

If you’ll be attending a show and would like to help out with live-updating that concert — either via Twitter, text or some other form of communication — we’d love to hear from you! You can get in touch using the contact form or by DM/reply on Twitter (we have a Facebook page too but that’s not really the best way to reach us).

And, while we’re on the tour subject, it appears that Norwegian Thomas Dybhal has been selected to open for the North American dates of the tour. While there’s no mention of this on his website, it was announced on his Facebook page. Do check him out!

Russia Gears Up For Night of Hunters

    Wednesday, September 28, 2011 | 01:24 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

OpenSpace.ru, a popular arts and culture website in Russia, has fingered Tori’s upcoming shows in St. Petersburg and Moscow as some of the top musical events of the week.

For those of you without Cyrillic in your bag of tricks, ravi has kindly offered up a translation:

Kate Bush of the Generation X is coming back to Moscow with the new album Night of Hunters released on a label that specializes in classical music. This record is unusual in that the album format is currently unpopular – at its core, the record is poems sung to the accompaniment of piano, string quartet and a clarinet. Amos always considered herself more of a conceptual artist than a pop-star. Some of the songs on Night of Hunters are performed by Amos together with her 11 year-old daughter and niece – i’m curious if they will appear on stage. -Alexander Velikanov

The Voice of Russia, on the other hand, offers their content in a variety of languages and in their short piece on the two Russian stops ont he Night of Hunters tour notes that a 900 kilogram piano tends to result in excess baggage fees…

Thanks to ravi for the link and the words!

    Third Johannesburg Show Confirmed!

    Friday, September 09, 2011 | 14:02 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

A THIRD peformance at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa has been added and tickets are now on-sale via Computicket.

As you may recall, this show was originally shown on the Emperor’s Palace website but then removed leading everyone to think that it was an option, depending on how sales of the first two nights went. Since they’ve both done well, the third night was added earlier this morning.

Interestingly, the show is not listed on the Emperor’s Palace website and they are currently not selling tickets for it — they’re only available from Computicket at this time.

Tori Ticket Terror - South African Edition

    Wednesday, September 07, 2011 | 03:53 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Update: The Emperor’s Palace website now states that tickets for the two Theatre of Marcellus shows go on sale at 3:00 PM SAST today, Wednesday, September 7th.

Just a quick update on happenings since this morning’s rash of South African ticket info…

First, the third Johannesburg show on Monday, November 14th has been removed from the Emperor’s Palace website. That said, its earlier presence hints at the possibility of the third date being added should the first two sell out, particularly since there are open days between the Johannesburg and Cape Town shows.

Second, Emperor’s Palace continues to say that the shows on the 12th and 13th will go on sale on Wednesday, September 7th at 1:00 PM SAST. However Computicket indicates that those two shows go on sale Thursday, September 8th at 9:00 AM SAST. So, it will behoove those seeking ticket for these shows to check both websites Wednesday and Thursday to see the lay of the land.

Third, the Cape Town show is still not listed at the venue’s website. However, Computicket states that they will start selling tickets for this show at 9:00 AM SAST on Thursday, September 8th as well. We’ll be keeping an eye on both sites as we can until then just in case things move faster than they say.

Finally, all three confirmed shows have been added to the Tour section with ticket links and sale dates and the like. We’ll keep those updated with the latest and greatest as we learn it.
