Essen: Ode To The Baffled King

    Tuesday, November 01, 2011 | 02:42 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Details for tonight’s show in Essen, Germany, are still not completely set in stone but we’re pretty sure we’ve been able to piece together tonight’s setlist and it’s clear that the Tori and the Quartett left the Continent with a bang!

The show featured several surprises: the return of the “God”/“Running Up That Hill” diptych (never pass up a chance to use that word!), this time prefaced by “Tubular Bells” as an intro, the extremely rare “Ode To The Banana King” (third time ever and the first since 1998!), the tour debut second performance (d’oh!) of “Sugar” on this tour and two covers: Cat Stevens’ “Moonshadow” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” Perhaps not the most spooky of selections for a Halloween concert, but we’re sure none in attendance were complaining!

The full setlist, which we’re almost positive is correct, has been posted in the Tour section. Many thanks to @lenoreva for tweeting and texting and to @NicotineLove for relaying those txts on to the rest of us. And a tip of the chapeau to PeterZ for clarifying the order as well. If there are any corrections, please let us know and we’ll get them posted, once verified.

Your reviews and thoughts on the show are always welcome! If you were there and would like to share, please let us and everyone know what you thought of the concert using the comment form there!

Is There Room In Brussels For You To Follow Your Heart?

    Sunday, October 30, 2011 | 00:07 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

While getting the details for tonight’s show at Bozar in Brussels was a little rocky, those in attendance were treated to a smooth performance indeed.

The set featured “Bouncing Off Clouds,” “Alamo,” “Hey Jupiter,” Madonna’s “Live To Tell” and, perhaps most notably,“Take To The Sky” with the “room in your heart” section of “Datura” used for the bridge — the first ever performance of any part of this long-sought-out song! The set also included “Spring Haze” and “Velvet Revolution,” both solo, and “Leather” with the Quartett.

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section. Many thanks to @Shireen86, @faeryty, Puchacz and Ewyszówna for sending all the pieces our way!

We’d love to hear what those fortunate to be at the show thought the concert! If you’d like to share, drop a review on us using the comment form and we’ll share it with the world to see. Check back for videos and photos as they start to pop up too.

    Antwerp: Hand Me My Cello

    Saturday, October 29, 2011 | 19:09 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The Continental portion of the Night of Hunters tour’s European leg is winding down but Tori and the Quartett continue to wind things up if last night’s show in Antwerp is any indication. “Leather” was performed for the first time with the addition of strings in a concert that also included “Pretty Good Year,” “Dragon,” “Programmable Soda,” “Carbon,” “Liquid Diamonds,” “I Can’t See New York” and Joni Mitchell’s “The Circle Game.”

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section along with several videos from the evening. Thanks to Bart for sending us the setlist and also to our good friends at tori.br for the video links.

If you have photos from the show or thoughts about the performance to share, please do so — there’s a comment form at the bottom of the Antwerp page to get in touch.

    Feeling Radical In Frankfurt

    Thursday, October 27, 2011 | 00:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The Night of Hunters tour returned to Germany tonight with Tori and the Quartett gracing the stage of Frankfurt’s Alte Oper. Fortunately, there was a live updater, via the Twitter (second night in a row with one! yay!) so, with thanks to @lenoreva, we’re happy to say that the concert featured the first performances of “Strange,” “Jamaica Inn, “Taxi Ride,” “Velvet Revolution,” and John Lennon’s “Imagine” on the tour. The evening also included “Edge of the Moon,” “Snow Cherries From France” and “Precious Things.” The full setlist has been posted in the Tour archive for your perusal and edification.

We’d love to hear what attendees thought of the performance if you’d like to share it with the site and everyone else — drop a review on us using the comment form at the bottom of the Frankfurt page. Check back over the next few days for videos and photos as well.

Vienna's A Star In The Face Of The Sky

    Tuesday, October 25, 2011 | 23:51 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

This evening, Tori performed at Vienna’s Stadthalle. There were no debuts (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but several interesting selections came out to play, including “Seaside,” “Maybe California,” “Yes, Anastasia,” “I Can’t See New York,” “Doughnut Song” and “Merman.” The set also featured two covers: Elton John’s “Daniel”, performed solo in the middle of the main set, and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” which kicked off the second encore.

The full set has been posted in the Tour section — head on over to see what filled out the rest of the performance. Many thanks to the lovely and talented @finnporter who battled poor reception to update the setlist for everyone via Twitter!

Reviews of the concert are always welcome — please feel free to post them via the comment form if you are sol inclined. We’ll also be happy to host your photos and videos, if you happened to take any from the show. Get in touch if you’d like to do so!

What Would You Do If I Sang In Luzern?

    Tuesday, October 25, 2011 | 00:34 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

While we’re still not quite completely sure of tonight’s setlist in Luzern, between Twitter and forum updates from those that were there and the setlist posted on ToriAmos.com, we think we have a pretty reasonable handle on what went down on the shores of the Vierwaldstättersee this evening…

The concert featured debuts of “Maybe California” (performed with the Quartett), “The Power of Orange Knickers” and “Toast” (the latter two, played solo) as well as two covers: The Cure’s “Lovesong” and The Beatles “With A Little Help From My Friends,” though time will have to tell if it was more in the Joe Cocker or Ringo Starr vein. “Ophelia” and “Precious Things” both saw their second performances of the tour, the former solo and the latter with strings.

The full setlist, as we understand it, has been posted in the Tour section. We’d appreciate any corrections or confirmation and we’d also love to hear reviews from those lucky enough to be at the show! Please drop us a line using the comment form at the bottom of that page!

    Copenhagen's Marmalade Skies

    Friday, October 21, 2011 | 23:23 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight was the first of two shows at Copenhagen’s Royal Theatre — or, if you prefer, København’s Kongelige Teater. While we weren’t able to see the show unfold live, the setlist did find its way through the series of tubes to us — many thanks to choirguy to sending it over and a congratulatory nod of the head to @taxxigirl for her successful pilgrimage tonight!

Tonight’s solo selections included “Edge of the Moon,” “Sister Janet,” “China,” “Cool On Your Island,” “Time,” and, somewhat unexpectedly, the old Australian chestnut, “Waltzing Matilda.” Oiiiii? Meanwhile, back with the Quartett, the usual suspects, such as “Fearlessness,” ““Nautical Twilight,” “Cruel,” “Siren,” “Winter,” and “Carry,” rounded out the concert. “Big Wheel” brought the show to a close.

By now, you all should know the routine! The full setlist is in the Tour section, reviews of the concert can be sent in via the comment form there and we’d love to post your photographs and videos if you took any of either!

    Tori Takes On Oslo

    Friday, October 21, 2011 | 02:50 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight’s show at Sentrum Scene in Oslo is in the books and, thanks to @frokva, we now know what she played. Perhaps most surprising was a cover of A-Ha’s “Take On Me” tucked into the second encore but the set also featured “Little Earthquakes” (which should be more than a little amusing to anyone who was following Violet on our Tweeter during the show), “Spring Haze,” “Daisy Dead Petals” and, another cover, Don McLean’s “Vincent,” all performed solo. Quartet songs of note included “Siren,” “Spark” and “Big Wheel.”

The full setlist has been posted in Tour. We’d love to hear reviews of the performance — please post any using the comment form down there at the bottom of the Oslo page. Photos and video are welcome too! (Don’t mind that we are behind on posting such things for other shows so far this tour — we’ll be pushing through that backlog over the next couple days.)
