    Saturday, December 10, 2011 | 16:47 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The first of two Canadian stops on the Night of Hunters tour was on December 8th at Toronto’s historic Massey Hall. The set featured “Father Lucifer,” “Edge of the Moon,” and “Spring Haze” with the Quartett and “Star of Wonder,” “Take To The Sky” (with the “room in my heart” bridge from “Datura”), “Taxi Ride,” and a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird.”

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section — many thanks to @mrzebraIW, @movemeantTO, @willowtree658 and @emptysthemepark for the tweeting from the show. The concert also garnered some media attention: The Metro Weekly featured a glowing review of the show, Lithium magazine weighed in, and there’s a lovely slideshow of photgraphs taken at the show at The Examiner.

The next stop on the tour is tonight in Chicago! Hopefully we’ll get its recap posted on time! ;-)

Last night, Tori and the Apollon Musagète Quartett occupied DAR Constitution Hall on the Washington, DC stop of the Night of Hunters tour and, as she promised in New York, didn’t suggest making lemonade with life’s lemons.

The set featured a timely performance of “Seaside,” “Edge of the Moon” accompanied by Quartett, fan-favorite “Cooling,” a rare performance of “The Wrong Band,” and a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

The full setlist, thanks to the efforts of @yocrpepper, @Kate_Morrison and @JasonSchlemeR, With this belated recap, there are already a number of reviews sent in. If you’d like to add your opinion, please do using the comment form!

Last night was the second concert of the Night of Hunters tour’s two-night stand at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Aside from the core anchor songs and “Leather,” the set was completely different from the previous evening’s, featuring “Spark,” “Winter,” and “Snow Cherries From France” with the quartet and solo performances of “Icicle,” “Josephine,” and a cover of U2’s “Running To Stand Still.”

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section. As always, your reviews are welcome! If you’d like to share your thoughts on the performance, just use the comment form on the concert’s page.

Tonight’s a day-off but the tour picks up again on Monday in Washington.

New York: A Toast In Your Honor

    Saturday, December 03, 2011 | 20:02 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Last night was the first of two nights at New York’s Beacon Theatre. Sticking right to the printed setlist, Tori and the Quartett powered through a concert that featured “Fearlessness,” “Spring Haze,” “Siren,” “Precious Things,” a stunning solo performance of “Putting The Damage On” and, speaking s someone who was in the audience, a devastating run of album closers — “Twinkle, “Gold Dust” and “Toast” — that made up the second solo section of the show.

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section, with thatnks to @tender_buttons and @vervalicious who co-tweeted from the show and we’ve already received several reviews and comments on the performance from folks in attendance. If yo’d like to add your opinion as well, we’d love to hear it! Just post it using the comment form (and be patient as we may not get new reviews moderated until later tonight or tomorrow).

The second show at the Beacon is tonight! Dropping the royal we for a second, I’ll be there taking it in from somewhere in the lower balcony. Assuming all works out, I’ll post the set from show on our Twitter feed so follow along if you’d like!

Finally, if you’re still dithering about coming tonight — or to any show on the tour for that matter — NBC New York is more than happy to help you make up your mind.

    Friday, December 02, 2011 | 05:33 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight, Tori performed at the Kimmel Center’s Academy of Music in Philadelphia. The setlist comes to us tonight thanks to the efforts of @yocrpepper who posted it live on Twitter. The concert featured a number of interesting solo selections, such as “Purple People,” “Never Seen Blue,” “Velvet Revolution,” “Cool On Your Island” and “Northern Lad” as well as, with the Apollon Musagète Quartett, “Leather,” “Nautical Twilight” and “Spring Haze.” Check out the complete setlist in the Tour section!

As always, please do share your thoughts on the concert if you were in attendance and are inclined to share. Photographs and other media are welcome too — we’re a bit behind in that department right now and probably will not catch up until after the New York City shows, but we should get a handle on that by the end of the weekend.

Atlanta: Gonna Float On Past Your Home

    Wednesday, November 30, 2011 | 04:55 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Annnnnnd the North American leg of the Night of Hunters Tour is underway!

Kicking off at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, Tori and the Apollon Musagète Quartett spun a two-hour long web that, following the pattern established in Europe, featured both songs performed with the Quartett as well as a healthy dose of solo segments as well.

Tonight’s set included “Suede,” ““Fearlessness,” “Star Whisperer,” “Siren,” “Spark” and “Precious Things” accompanied by the string quartet while solo selections featured “Here. In My Head,” “Honey,” “Beulah Land,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” and Joni Mitchell’s “River.”

The complete setlist, with thanks to @marlatiara, @ciararavenblaze, @ErikaJL and @AmyJohnson__ for updates from the show via Twitter, has been posted in the Tour section. Check it out and, if you were at the show and are so inclined, please share your thoughts about the concert. We’ll also get photographs and video posted there as anything comes along.

Finally, since we only mentioned it as a footnote way back at the start of the tour, we hasten to point out that Thomas Dybdahl is the support act for the North American dates of the tour. Give him a listen!

You Will Not Ever Be Forgotten By Me

    Friday, November 18, 2011 | 01:37 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight saw Tori’s brief but sweet tour of South Africa come to a close in Cape Town. Performing at GrandWest’s Grand Arena, she again treated the audience to a revue of her back catalog, highlighting songs such as “Icicle,” “Mother,” “Dragon,” “Concertina” and “Me And A Gun,” but she also included one song from Night of Hunters, concluding the main set with “Carry.” The show also featured a cover of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” to open the encore.

Thanks to the admirable efforts of @ChantelErfort and @ffreakazzoid, the concert unfolded on Twitter as it happened and the full setlist has been posted in the Tour section. A couple reviews were already sent in; if anyone else who had the pleasure of seeing the show would like to add their thoughts and opinions, please do using the comment form there!

So, a teary farewell to South Africa after an amazing swing through that country! The excitement and enthusiasm of the fans for these shows there has been really incredible to watch and infectious for those of us Tori will be visiting next when the Night of Hunters tour picks up again at the end of November in Atlanta. The Apollon Musagète Quartett will be rejoining her and the North American leg will continue through to just before Christmas.

    Wednesday, November 16, 2011 | 03:33 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews,Touring

Nikita Ramkissoon reviewed last Saturday’s Johannesburg concert for The Times. While the photographs included might not be quite as stunning as Reney Warrington’s shots, the review is no less glowing, calling Tori’s performance, “nothing short of genius.”

Johannesburg Concert Photos From Reney Warrington

While we normally don’t link to too much from the blogosphere, it is definitely worth noting Reney Warrington’s review of the third Johannesburg show due to the stunning photography included within.

Regardless of whether a press pass was involved or not, kudos to her for catching some great shots of Tori in, um, “flagrante piano.”
