Q Radio Special To Air June 26th

    Tuesday, June 16, 2009 | 03:37 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Rachel King has been in touch with Q Radio about the previously-mentioned Tori Amos special and she has happily reported that they have finally given a date for the broadcast! While it hasn’t been posted on their site yet, deputy programme director James Walshe has confirmed that the hour-long special will be broadcast on Friday, June 26th at 9:00 PM BST.

The special will include a live session and an interview pre-recorded in the Q Radio studios — “QHQ.”

Listen live using Q Radio’s online player, through Digital TV (Sky, Freeview or Virgin) or on DAB in London.

Thanks to Rachel for keeping on top of this!

More Sinful Attraction Tour Dates Added

    Monday, June 15, 2009 | 21:08 UTC | Posted by Violet | Touring

The second Oakland show was scrapped and a San Jose show has been added in its place. Tickets go on sale Saturday June 20th at 10am. The show will most likely be on sale through Ticketmaster, but no link is available yet. A link to the Ticketmaster listing has been added to the Tour section, as well as a link to a Livenation listing.

Also, two Poland dates (October 9th in Zabrze and October 10th in Warsaw) are now confirmed. Tickets will go on sale Friday June 19th. No purchase details yet.

    Tour Update - 10 June 2009

    Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 05:31 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

It’s been quiet on the tour front since the second round of North American dates went on sale last week (and we hope that everyone secured good seats during the pre-sale/general sale madness that ensued) but a few developments have evolved over the past couple days.

First, the second Oakland show has been removed from both ToriAmos.com and Everything Tori. Since the second show was never listed on the Paramount’s website or Ticketmaster, it seems pretty likely that this date was always optional and depended on the first night selling out before the second night would go on sale — exactly what happened in Oakland last tour. Since tickets are still available for the July 13th show, it should be no surprise that the second show never went on sale. However, what the removal of the second show from the official tour dates indicates, we do not know. While it is not out the question that the hold on 14th has been released, it’s also possible that they are just trying to drum up sales for the show on the 13th.

The other concert date that has been a conundrum is Atlanta but Live Nation has added a listing for the show which shines the following light on the mystery:

THIS SHOW IS PART OF THE 2009 LIVE NATION SUMMER CONCERT SERIES. SERIES AND MINI-SERIES TICKETS ARE ON SALE SUNDAY, JUNE 14TH AT 10:00AM! Series and Mini-Series tickets for the 2009 Live Nation Summer Concert Series, Atlanta’s most popular concert series, ARE ON SALE SUNDAY, JUNE 14TH AT 10:00AM! Tickets for the full series or any combination of two or more shows will be available online at www.chastainseries.com or charge by phone by calling Chastain Tickets at (404) 233-2227.

ToriAmos.com and Everything Tori now say pretty much the same thing but also indicate that single-event tickets will be available for purchase on Saturday, June 27th at Noon Eastern.

Given this, it seems unlikely to us that there will be an iTunes presale for the Atlanta show at this point but there is still time for us to be proven wrong.

Finally, there is still the matter of whether or not any other European dates will be added. The information we heard previously about Polish dates (Zabrze on October 8th and Warsaw on October 10th) seemed pretty concrete but there is still no official confirmation from either the venues or Tori’s management. Tori has also said she’s coming to Russia on this tour so hopefully that still works out. Whether or not any other dates in Europe — or elsewhere in the world for that matter — will be added though remains to be seen.

    Rhapsody's Q&A With Tori

    Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 05:31 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Tori has a chat with the music store Rhapsody which was filmed and posted on their blog. During the conversation, ostensibly about Abnormally Attracted to Sin, they also covered topics ranging from family to the music industry.

The three part interview is on YouTube and embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Preview The Gay and Night Interview

    Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 05:31 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Long-time Toriphile Martijn got the opportunity to interview Tori for the Dutch magazine Gay & Night and he’s kindly posted a nearly complete transcript of their conversation in the Main Tori Forum at atforumz.com. The topics they discussed include, among other things, the American Doll Posse DVD (not dead yet), official bootlegs (still possible), The Light Princess musical (still being written) and, of course, Abnormally Attracted to Sin — though being a fan, the questions asked lead Tori in a somewhat different direction than the majority of the interviews that have appeared in the press so far.

The final version of the interview will appear in the July issue of Gay & Night which is available for free in the Netherlands and Belgium — we’ll be sure to let everyone know when it’s out there. A big thank you to Martijn for being kind enough to share this sneak preview with the Toriverse!

    BFS Shortlists CBT

    Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 05:30 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Comic Book Tattoo has made the shortlist of nominations for a 2009 British Fantasy Awards in the Best Comic/Graphic Novel category (it was previously on the long-list, so this is a good thing!). Voting wraps up on August 1st and the winners will be announced at the British Fantasy Awards Ceremony at FantasyCon in September.

Congratulations again to Rantz and the entire CBT team for the nomination and we wish them the best of luck in this and the Eisner Awards!

    The Revenge of BBC HARDtalk

    Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 05:30 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

Last week, Tori was on the BBC television program HARDtalk. While the interview is archived on the BBC iPlayer, only those in the United Kingdom can view it there. However, as you might expect, the appearance has also shown up on YouTube. Interestingly, BBC World News has posted all three segments of the interview but those videos are currently set to private. It’s not clear if that is the case for all viewers or only those outside of the UK.

In any event, also as you might expect, other users have come to the rescue and all three segments are there for the viewing. Here’s the first; jump the cut for the other two.

A Note About the Portland Presale

    Thursday, June 04, 2009 | 11:44 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Several members of the Portland Center for the Performing Arts’ Backstage Pass mailing list reported receiving notice that there would be an additional presale for the concert at Arlene Schnitzer Hall starting today, Thursday June 4th.

However, the PCPA has added a note at the bottom of their event page for the show indicating that the Backstage Pass presale will actually happen on Friday, June 5th from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM PDT. So, this looks to be the “Internet presale” on Ticketmaster’s listing for this show. Our understanding is that there is a password for this presale but you should be able to subscribe to PCPA’s mailing list and ask for it if you’re not already a member.

Note: Live Nation has a presale for this show at the same time tomorrow. We’re not sure if Live Nation will redirect to Ticketmater or if they will be have their own purchase page on their site with a separate allotment of tickets.

Thanks to Michelle for the tip!

Radio New Zealand Interview Now Available

    Wednesday, June 03, 2009 | 22:52 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

As we reported, Tori was interviewed on Radio New Zealand last weekend. LizaC contacted them about it making the interview available and they were kind enough to do so — with the songs from the album removed to avoid copyright infringement issues.

The interview was a phone-in, as you might expect, that did not include any live performance. During the conversation with RNZ’s Music Mix reporter Sam Wicks, Tori discusses the themes and inspiration for the new record, Abnormally Attracted to Sin.

If the interview is no longer in the Latest Audio section at the top of their Music archive, you’ll find it under “Amos, Tori Interview” or just click here to stream the interview in your favorite mp3 player.

Thanks also to David Treacher for his help with this!
