Live at Montreux Release Details and Pre-Orders

    Wednesday, July 09, 2008 | 04:22 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Although we posted the tracklist for the upcoming Live at Montreux DVD, we failed to mention that, per ToriAmos.com, there is a CD of the performance slated for release as well. They have also confirmed the previously-mentioned September 22nd release date for Europe and indicate that the sets will see a North American release on September 30th.

Thanks to Stéphane for noting that the CD and DVD are available for pre-order from Amazon.co.uk (though, for some reason, they incorrectly list the title of the DVD as Live at Montreux 1999 — Tori only played the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1991, 1992, 2005 and 2007) and to Paul Rees for sending us the pre-order link for the CD on Play.com. As previously mentioned, the DVD first popped up on CDPlus.nl where it is still available for pre-order. I’ve also found a pre-order listing for the CD at HMV. Undoubtedly, the set can be found at other fine vendors across the European Union and, eventually, North American stores as well.

A Gentle Note About San Diego Comic-Con...

    Wednesday, July 09, 2008 | 04:22 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

Devon wrote in to point out something that I meant to mention in our post about Tori’s appearance at Comic-Con International in San Diego. Since these are convention-sponsored events, you must be a registered member of the convention to attend either the panel discussion or the signing. Unfortunately, four-day passes and Saturday-only passes have already sold out and there will be no registration at the door. While ToriAmos.com indicates that more details are forthcoming, it would seem unlikely that they will be able to bend the admission rules for those who only want to attend these events.

If we get clarification about this point from either ToriAmos.com or Comic-Con, we’ll update this story, but it would seem likely that only already-registered conventioneers will be able to attend either of these events.

Graham Norton Appearance Rebroadcast on BBC America

    Wednesday, July 09, 2008 | 04:22 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

BBC America will be rerunning the episode of The Graham Norton Show that featured Tori and Gérard Depardieu on July 15th at 3:00 AM Eastern/Midnight Pacific. Note, this will be late on the evening of July 14th/early on the morning of the 15th!

The episode was originally aired back on May 10, 2007. If you don’t have BBC America or don’t want to wait, there a slew of video clips available from the appearance on several video services across the Web.

Thanks to Parker for catching this!

Eil.com has spilled the beans regarding the tracklist for the upcoming Live at Montreux DVD, due out Sept. 22. The recording features material from two shows, one in 1991 and 1992, and shows Tori’s “fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of Little Earthquakes.” Check it out:

    1992 Show:

    Comic Book Tattoo Sneak Preview

    Friday, June 27, 2008 | 04:15 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

Rantz has posted a few snapshots of an advance copy of the Comic Book Tattoo hardcover on his Flickr photostream. In addition to a shot of the outside of the book are a couple shots of pages from Caught A Lite Sneeze (by Mike Maihack) and The Beekeeper (by Neil Kleid and Christopher Mitten).

Update: Rantz notes on the Freakangels message board that the limited edition of the anthology is SOLD OUT except for 50 copies which will be available at Comic Con (and any copies that comic shops may have ordered and not yet sold).

Hang With Tori and Rantz At San Diego Comic-Con!

    Friday, June 27, 2008 | 03:59 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

In addition to receiving a facelift today, ToriAmos.com announced that Tori will be making several appearances at Comic Con International in San Diego in July.

First, she will be discussing Comic Book Tattoo with editor Rantz Hoseley and contributors David Mack, Ted McKeever, Kelly Sue DeConnick, and Elizabeth Genco in a panel moderated by comics and music critic Douglas Wolk on Saturday, July 26th at 11:30 AM.

Following the panel, at 2:00 PM, there will be a signing for 200 lucky fans. To get a ticket to the signing, you’ll need to purchase a copy of Comic Book Tattoo at the Image Comics booth (#2729) at the convention. According to ToriAmos.com, 20 tickets will be available on Wednesday July 23rd, 75 tickets each on Thursday and Friday, and 30 tickets on Saturday before the signing.

The exact details of the event locations have not been determined and will be announced once Comic-Con’s program is finalized.

Thanks to Tori S. for the tip!

Update: Note that attending either event requires you to have an admission ticket to the convention itself! As four-day passes and Saturday-only tickets are sold out, walk-ups without convention tickets-in-hand will probably NOT be able to get into either the panel discussion or the signing! While ToriAmos.com indicates that more details are forthcoming, it would seem unlikely that they will be able to bend the rules about admission to the convention for those who have not already registered.

Spinner Confirms Montreux DVD, Talks ADP DVD (June 26, 2008)

    Thursday, June 26, 2008 | 22:21 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

In a posting on Spinner reporting on a recent chat with Tori about her forthcoming projects, Jessica Robertson confirms that the Live at Montreux DVD will be released this Fall, discusses the comic anthology Comic Book Tattoo and The Light Princess musical, and also gleans some scant details about the evolution of the American Doll Posse tour DVD — which now appears to “a story of what happened on that road, with the touring and what happened afterwards.”

Tori at Montreux: Coming Soon To A DVD Near You?

    Monday, June 23, 2008 | 06:15 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

While Tori performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival during both of her last two tours, she also played the festival at the start of her career and it now appears that a DVD collecting both of those early concerts is slated to be released later this year.

Kristof was the first to alert us to a Live at Montreux 1991/1992 DVD appearing at the Dutch store CDPlus with a release date of September 8th on PIAS. While there is no information about this DVD at PIAS (yet?), there is a fair bit about it at eil.com, though that is for a UK PAL DVD release on Eagle Vision with a release date of September 22nd. Further muddying the waters, Kayos Productions, an American publicity company, lists on their release schedule a DVD and CD of this title for September 30th on Eagle, so an American release seems possible as well.

At this time, there is no mention of this DVD on Live at Montreux, the official site for releases of performances from the festival. However, Eagle Vision is clearly affiliated with the Montreux so it seems very likely that this DVD (and possibly a CD) is happening!

For those who are curious, details about both of Tori’s appearances at Montreux are available from Montreux Sounds: 1991 and 1992.

Thanks also to BMac, jaybees and Lauren.

Catching Up With A Comic Book Tattoo Part Deux

    Monday, June 23, 2008 | 06:15 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

Since we last mentioned Comic Book Tattoo, there have been some developments on that front.

First, editor Rantz Hoseley has uploaded several photographs of the printer’s dummy for the limited edition hardcover and slipcase to Flickr. We have to say that it’s looking pretty sharp!

Second, this past weekend, Image Comics was in attendance at HeroesCon, where Comic Book Tattoo was the subject of one of the three panels dealing with the imprint. We haven’t located any news from this panel yet, but Comic Book Resources has reported on the general Image Comics panel held later that afternoon.

Finally, after weeks of being unavailable, Amazon.com is finally taking pre-orders for the regular hardcover edition of the anthology. However, they are no longer taking pre-orders for the limited edition so it appears they may have finally run out of their allotment of the limited edition. Note that several people have written us to confirm that the price they pre-ordered the limited edition from Amazon at is still listed in their order history. Additionally, Amazon’s pre-order price guarantee means that those who got in on the pre-ordering when the price was good got quite a deal!

Thanks to Kirkland, Tony, Arfquake, and rusty for the tips!
