    Tori in Pori: The Aftermath

    Sunday, July 25, 2010 | 16:31 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Our apologies for the belated coverage of the final show of this little summer jaunt that Tori took through Europe. The last show took place on Friday at the Pori Jazz Festival in Pori, Finland, bookending the tour nicely as it started at another jazz festival in Montreux. Tori played a short outdoor set which included “Girl,” “Space Dog” and “Personal Jesus/Body and Soul.” The full set, thanks to the lovely @NicotineLove who updated it live on Twitter, can be found, along with YouTube video of the entire show and quite a few photos from the performance, in the Tour section.

If you’d like to contribute your opinion of the concert, please do so using the comment form at the bottom of that page — we’d love to hear what you thought! Photos are always welcome too!

Tori has two more concerts lined up this year: her first trip to Russia with a performance in Moscow on September 3rd and a special show with the Metropole Orchestra in Amsterdam on October 8th. While we won’t be attending either we’re looking forward to see what Tori has in store for both shows and reporting on what happens for y’all!

Just a short note to say that neither Violet nor I will be able to doing any site updates over the next couple days. As a result, we’ll be getting the Pori Jazz Festival show setlist will probably be posted on Sunday. Bloemendaal, Are You Out There?

    Thursday, July 22, 2010 | 00:29 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

While we were briefly uncertain of the order of the songs Tori played tonight at the lovely outdoor stage at Openluchttheater Caprera in Bloemendaal, we were sure it was a cracking performance as more than a few people in attendance called it the best show so far this summer— and not just because she opened with “Flying Dutchman” and included “Caught A Lite Sneeze.” “Honey.” “Crazy,” “Carbon,” “Spark” and “Spring Haze.” Of course, there is still one more concert this month and the Moscow and Metropole Orchestra performance later this Fall, so there is still time to out-do tonight…

Thanks to @arjanwelles for sending in the songs included in the set and to the fine folks at Everything Tori for clarifying the order in which they were played Check out the set on the Bloemendaal page and, as always, reviews from those who were there are most welcome!

Snow Cherries in a Parisian Summer

    Tuesday, July 20, 2010 | 00:57 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

At L’Olympia tonight in Paris, Tori turned the tables from the start, opening the performance with “Curtain Call,” and then proceeded to stroll through a full-bodied set featuring “Mrs. Jesus,” “Twinkle,” “Snow Cherries From France,” “Another Girl’s Paradise” and a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne.” A two-songs encore included “Crucify” and the “Personal Jesus”/“Body and Soul” combination. The full set, thanks to our fine friends at toriamos.fr who updated the setlist on Twitter, has been posted in the Tour section.

Y’all know the routine now: if you would like to send in a review of the concert, please use the comment form at the bottom of that page and we are more than happy to host your photos or embed your videos of the performance. Barnes & Noble: The Return of the Pre-Order

    Monday, July 19, 2010 | 23:45 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

In the latest — and hopefully final — chapter of the Barnes & Noble exclusive pre-order for the Tori Amos – Live From the Artists Den DVD, several people (including myself) have received 30 day extension approval requests from B&N. In the note, they apologize for being unable to fulfill the pre-order and explains that unless ones approves the extension within 24 hours, the order will be canceled.

This is all very mysterious as several others canceled their pre-orders, reordered the DVD and have already gotten shipment notices!

However, a quick call to their customer service number shed some light on the mystery: turns out that the pre-orders are shipped from one location where they do not have the DVD in stock. Meanwhile, new orders were being shipped from another location where the item is. Why they couldn’t just automatically change the source location for the pre-orders, the world may never know…but it does mean that those who are still hanging on to your pre-orders, you might as well re-order (or pick up a copy at a store) and, once you get a shipment notice, go ahead and cancel the pre-order.

London: Something Wicked This Way Comes...

    Sunday, July 18, 2010 | 22:51 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tori’s performance at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London is complete and, in keeping with the shows so far this summer, delivered several surprises to those in attendance. Beneath the dragon flying out over the stage of the musical “Wicked,” she performed “Yes, Anastasia” for the second time this tour but eclipsed that with the debuts of “Marianne,” “Garlands” and “Me And A Gun,” which earned her a mid-set standing ovation. The set also featured “Northern Lad,” “Space Dog” and, opening the encore, a cover of The Eagles’ “Desperado.”

The full setlist, thanks to the Twitter-y efforts of @LeoSalvia, has been posted in the Tour section.

As always, if you were there, we’d love you to share your impression of the concert — post a review using the comment form on that page.

A Not Quite Rainy Night in Dublin

    Saturday, July 17, 2010 | 01:33 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

After weather threatened tonight show at Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens all day, the rain held off and Tori delivered another fine performance on Ireland’s stop on this little summer jaunt through Europe. Tonight saw the debuts of “Spark,” “Ophelia” (which, Tori said at the meet and greet before the show, was birthed in Ireland), “Fire To Your Plain,” “Taxi Ride,” “Mother,” “Beauty Queen” and “Horses.” In addition, the “Personal Jesus”/“Body and Soul” diptych reappeared as well as a couple other covers. The full setlist, thanks to the tweets of @lenoreva and @misterebby, has been posted on the Dublin page in the Tour section.

If you were there and care to share your opinion of the show (and we hope you do!), please leave a review using the comment form on that page!

Barnes & Noble Canceling Some Artists Den DVD Pre-orders

    Saturday, July 17, 2010 | 01:02 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Despite our hope that the shipment delay notices we reported on earlier this week did not foreshadow problems with the Tori Amos: Live From the Artists Den DVD pre-order, it sadly seems that this has not turned out to be the case.

Many people have let us know they received order cancellation notices from Barnes & Noble today saying that they will be unable to fulfill the pre-order. Mind you, not everyone has gotten these notices and, in fact, a few have either received their pre-order or at least have gotten a shipment notice since the delay notice. (For those keeping score at home, I’ve yet to receive either a shipment or cancellation notice since the delay e-mail earlier this week.)

Meanwhile, many Barnes & Noble stores continue to have the title in stock (and more than a few people who got the delay notice have canceled their pre-orders and picked the DVD up at the store) so it appears to be a case of Barnes & Noble taking more pre-orders than they could deliver on.

Update: The DVD can still be ordered online from Barnes & Noble and at least one person has reported getting a shipment notice already! Stranger and stranger…

If we get any information about this from either Barnes & Noble or The Artists Den about this situation, we’ll pass the details along.

Thanks to the many of you who got in touch with us about this matter!

    A Rainy Sunset in Zürich

    Thursday, July 15, 2010 | 00:36 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight’s performance at the Live at Sunset festival in Zürich is in the books and, after an exciting soundcheck laden with foreshadow, we can add several new songs to the Tori’s repertoire on this summer mini-tour: “Little Earthquakes.” “Wednesday.” “Black Dove (January),” “Ribbons Undone,” “Curtain Call,” “Carbon” and “Bliss.” She also covered of Leonard Cohen’s “Famous Blue Raincoat,” a song she’s played often in the past. The complete setlist has been posted in the Tour section, with thanks to @lenoreva who posted the performance live on Twitter.

As always, reviews and multimedia from the performance are always welcome. Leave a comment or drop us a line if you want to share your opinion, photos or videos from the concert!

Barnes & Noble Artists Den DVD Pre-Order Shipments Delayed

    Thursday, July 15, 2010 | 00:35 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

Several people — including myself — have received notices from Barnes & Noble that shipment of their Tori Amos – Live from the Artists Den DVD pre-orders has been delayed. Pre-orders are expected to be 1-5 days late, so it’s not too long of a delay. And, as we’ve heard from more than a few folks who have been purchased the DVD in Barnes & Noble stores, we know copies of the DVD are out there and hope the shipping delay will be minimal and is not indicative of a bigger problem.

In any case, unfortunate as that may be, the actual episode of the program will be airing on PBS stations this week so if you are one of the unlucky folks in the this boat, you should at least be able to watch the show before too long!
