Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages since we often post quickie updates there when we're on-the-go.
During tours, we do our best to cover setlists in real-time on Twitter. If you want to tweet a show in, just DM or @ us on the day and tell us to watch your stream that night.
Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
“People keep talking to me about the Dixie Chicks. I say to them, ‘Have you even been to one of my shows?’ If I had to entertain the current administration, that would be the end of my career.”
Katherine and Trace linked us to this Sydney Morning Herald article previewing the September tour in Australia. One would think July is a little too early to promote concerts in September, but considering that a couple of those concerts are already sold out, maybe it’s not such a bad idea after all….
Pollstar, a tour date listing site, also posts news articles and Tori’s North American tour announcement certainly got their attention. Unlike other press about the tour announcement though, Pollstar spiced it up by incorporating some of Tori’s quotes from the promotional materials included with advance copies of the album, though it took a few minutes to remember where we’d heard, “I think that these women are showing me that I have not explored honest extensions of the self who are now as real as the redhead,” before. Kudos to Pollstar for making it interesting!
Speaking of which, does anyone have actual copies of that stuff? The text of it was hijacked by Starpulse and others so but we don’t think actual scans of those materials have seen the light of day.
In anticipation of tonight’s concert at Ra’anana in Israel this evening, the Jerusalem Post published an article in their July 20th edition recapping Tori’s career for the non-fan. While it contains nothing new, it is a nice overview for the uninitiated.
Nine O’Clock, an English language newspaper in Romania, drums up some enthusiasm for Tori’s concert tonight at Sala Polivalenta in Bucharest. Apparently there are still some of the cheaper seats left for this show, but not many. Hopefully, those seat are as comfortable as those required in the green room by Tori’s rider!
In preparation for the upcoming Fly Beeyond Festival, an article on Tori appeared in 7 Magazine in the Greek newspaper Eleutherotypia this past Sunday. You can view the article in the original Greek, or read on for an English translation from Christos Limnios.
[Additional note from Christos: “About Tori being abused by a family friend: I only knew about the rape. I only found this story in the Greek press, apparently everyone copies this bio-origin unknown.” But we could swear we’ve seen that same thing mentioned somewhere else in the very recent past, and we don’t think it was in the Greek press. We can’t turn it up now, though. Can any of you recall where this has shown up before, or were we on crack?]
UPDATE: Aha, Beverly Camp comes through… Check out the quote from Die Zeit (November 11, 1999) included in the “Black Dove” comments on HereInMyHead.com. Yay, so it wasn’t the crack! (We were probably recalling a recent discussion about that quote on one of the fora.)
Tori, Just As Persephone
I am the same age as Johnny Depp. At my age, in this business I am beyond the perception border, whilst Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt are becoming admirable and sexy just now.
The following interview appeared in Süddeutschen Zeitung back in April. Among other things, Tori discusses the challenges of being a female artist in a man’s world, dealing with constant air travel, staying faithful in marriage, and which doll Mark most wanted to take home first (and which one frightens him). Cheers to Jennytalula for translating it for us.
“Next time, I’ll bring a gun“
Okay, if we’re going to take on the patriarchy and its ideology, then what do you do? If it’s too loud, turn it up.
Jill alerted us to this interview which appeared in the Down Low section of the July 1st issue of American Way, American Airlines in-flight magazine. Read the interview on American Way’s website or here.
Bigger Earthquakes
There are times I’ve wished I was a man because I’m the same age as Johnny Depp and he might know how women taste but I know how they think. I think I’d have had gals lined up around the block, mate.
Completing the trifecta, I also stumbled across this interview in The Financial Times’ archives, conducted by the Ludovic Hunter-Tilney who wrote that paper’s review of American Doll Posse. The interview appeared in the May 11th edition of the Times.
Martin interviewed Tori for pressetext.austria which published an edited version of the interview in German. Fortunately, Martin has posted the uncut text of the conversation he had with Tori on his blog in English as a gift to the Tori fan community. Head on over and take a look-see — it’s quite a nice interview where she discusses iTunes, the PS22 Choir and the Internet, amongst other things! Thanks Martin for sharing!
I think that if I had approached this maybe 11 years ago, then there wouldn’t have been the seduction that some of the great rock gods had. Over the years, this is just the truth, I didn’t really understand about feminine seduction.
John B let us know that the August 2007 issue of Harp Magazine includes a one-page interview with Tori conducted by Brian Orloff. The article is not on Harp’s website yet but John kindly sent us a scan, transcribed below.
July 25, 2007 Update: The article has been posted on Harp’s website.
