    Tori On Carole King

    Tuesday, May 22, 2007 | 04:19 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries

As mentioned in the last article, the June 2007 issue of Mojo features the “100 Records That Changed The World”, as chosen by the magazine’s favo[u]rite musicians. Tori got to expound on #74: Carole King’s Tapestry:

“I remember the babysitter bringing this record with her one night. I was four or five at the time and I was entranced by it. Over the next couple of weeks it was my goal to play every single song. I was in trouble because I was supposed to be playing Mozart. Carole King is one of the greatest songwriters ever. Her songs are like stories or sonic movies, you want to walk into them. With “I Feel The Earth Move” or “It’s Too Late”, you’re right there. Some people have emotions they talk about, with Carole King, you sense how she really feels.”

Thanks, yet again, to Anni for sending this in!

    Warner Compilation Includes CFG

    Wednesday, May 16, 2007 | 20:36 UTC | Posted by Beth | Cherries

A new 3-CD set called “1” from Warner/Universal includes “Cornflake Girl,” and more 1980s/1990s/2000s pop hits than you can shake a stick at. (Think Tori will notice that her song comes right after Britney’s?) Thanks to James for the head’s-up on this one. Click the cut to see the full list of songs:

    iTunes' "21 Musical Moms" List

    Sunday, May 13, 2007 | 22:45 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries

iTunes has a compiled a collection of songs by 21 musical moms in honor of Mother’s Day. Tori’s “A Sorta Fairytale” made the list.

    Musical Moms

We love our mothers. We really do. There are not that many sure things in life, but loving your mother — that’s pretty hight up there on the list. That said, there’s no assuring that your mom is cool. Sweatshirts with cats embroidered on them, “Country Kitchen”-themed kitchens, power blazers — any of these things are possible with mothers. This list pays tribute to musical moms — high-profile mothers who probably don’t own even one pair of high-waisted elastic jeans.

Access the “album” from the iTunes Jukebox page or open iTunes and go to the iTunes Store. Thanks, Eric!

    Tori Meets The PS22 Chorus

    Saturday, May 05, 2007 | 16:08 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries,Toriphiles

On Friday afternoon, in New York City, Tori met a very special group of people: the PS22 Chorus. This was a dream come true for Gregg Breinberg and the kids, and was obviously quite special for Tori as well.

    My Posse Can Drink

    Thursday, May 03, 2007 | 05:55 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries

When you let five girls loose in the big city for a night out on the town, you know there are gonna be girly drinks involved. That’s just how it is.

And so it came to pass at the American Doll Posse release party in New York City on Tuesday night. Franco managed to make off with one of the Signature Drink Menus from the event and scanned it for us. (And we wouldn’t be surprised if he’s off trying to re-create some of these for himself at home right now. They sound yummy!)

We especially love how the “The Pip Apple Pucker-Christi” looks like it says “The Pip Apple Fucker-Christi.” We’ll have four of those, please.

    Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

    Tuesday, April 24, 2007 | 01:48 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries,Minutiae

Jason told us about a rather unusual item for sale on eBay:

Yep, it’s lock of Tori’s hair (from 1994). You can either bid or “Buy It Now” for a mere £99.99 and you get a Certificate Of Authenticity and everything. Woot!

Perhaps this explains the need for all those wigs right about now.

Al Stewart Re-issues Last Days of The Century

    Sunday, April 22, 2007 | 16:50 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries,Video

Collecters’ Choice has announced that they will be reissuing the majority of Al Stewart’s catalog in June. “What does this have to do with Tori?”, you might ask? Well, one of the albums included in this campaign is Last Days of the Century which features Tori on backing vocals. Additionally, two of the re-issue’s bonus tracks are demos of “Ten Cents” and “Dreaming”, two songs that Al and Tori co-wrote. The re-issue is available for pre-order now from Collectors’ Choice. And, at the risk of turning this into YouToriTube, check out this video of Tori performing “The Year of the Cat” with Al in 1991:

Undented Reviews String Quartet Vol. 2

    Wednesday, April 04, 2007 | 01:52 UTC | Posted by Violet | Cherries,Reviews

Reviewing a purely instrumental album is difficult. What can you really say about it? Most people listen to instrumental music in the background, letting it wash over them subconsciously. What I learned after repeatedly trying to absorb String Quartet Tribute To Tori Amos Vol. 2: Pieces in this way is that one should NOT make the mistake of doing that with this album: I discovered that the more I sat still and listened to it, the more impressive it became.
