    Spin Interview (June 25, 2009)

    Sunday, June 28, 2009 | 16:09 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

On my tour bus, it’s not good if you’re an AA person. I carry a wine cellar on the road, and I just don’t think it’s good if somebody can’t be around a super Tuscan. I am the worst influence. If you can’t handle your vices, then I am the Devil.

Spin Magazine’s John Sellers chatted with Tori and this quick’n‘dirty interview was the result. As one might guess, a quick wit will get you some quotes and this conversation has already been quoted in Spinner (they liked what we liked) and New York Magazine (they preferred to go with the Kellogg’s commercial).

Thanks to Faber, Armen, d.l. and Jeremy for pointing all these out.

Gay & Night Interview Hits the Virtual Newsstand

    Tuesday, June 16, 2009 | 04:33 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Martijn let us know that a PDF file of his interview with Tori for Gay & Night is now available to download. It’s a bit on the heavy side, tipping the scales at 5 megabytes so those of you with slower connections may want to think twice before clicking that link — or just check out the transcript of their conversation that he previewed on atforumz.com.

The issue of the magazine featuring this article will be available in the Netherlands and Belgium in about a week.

    Times Interview (June 14, 2009)

    Tuesday, June 16, 2009 | 03:51 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

The only way to survive someone else’s destructive behaviour is to out-create it. If you don’t create out of the negative events that come your way, then you become a shell of emptiness walking. My creative juices flow when I am going through a transformation. It’s challenging when you have to grow and make your changes.

Despite the tired, old “Queen of the Fairies” epithet in the headline, Hanna Hanra’s interview with Tori from the June 14th edition of The Times is a wide-ranging and respectful-yet-cheeky piece covering both the usual roster of current topics as well as a few uncommon ones, such as her Native American family history. And lest anyone get the wrong idea, the author herself backs off the fairy queen title by the end of the article.

Thanks to Dylo, james and Matt for the link!

Preview The Gay and Night Interview

    Thursday, June 11, 2009 | 05:31 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Long-time Toriphile Martijn got the opportunity to interview Tori for the Dutch magazine Gay & Night and he’s kindly posted a nearly complete transcript of their conversation in the Main Tori Forum at atforumz.com. The topics they discussed include, among other things, the American Doll Posse DVD (not dead yet), official bootlegs (still possible), The Light Princess musical (still being written) and, of course, Abnormally Attracted to Sin — though being a fan, the questions asked lead Tori in a somewhat different direction than the majority of the interviews that have appeared in the press so far.

The final version of the interview will appear in the July issue of Gay & Night which is available for free in the Netherlands and Belgium — we’ll be sure to let everyone know when it’s out there. A big thank you to Martijn for being kind enough to share this sneak preview with the Toriverse!

    BUST Article (June/July 2009)

    Sunday, May 31, 2009 | 20:01 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

The June/July issue of BUST Magazine includes a short interview with Tori. You can sorta kinda see it in their on-line magazine preview (it’s on page 82) and it may be added to their collection of on-line articles but the best way to check it out would be to pick up the magazine on your local news rack or buy a digital issue from BUST directly.

Thanks to Kelly G for letting us know!

    ChordStrike Interview (May 27, 2009)

    Saturday, May 30, 2009 | 03:22 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

My favorite albums have always been things that have a side three and a side four, with two distinct pieces of vinyl that I can hold in each of my hands—very tangible, like the bottom of a woman. You hold each beautiful piece of vinyl in your hands and you think, Yes, the goddess is in my hands.

ChordStrike, a blog associated with Amazon.com, talked to Tori, focusing almost entirely on Abnormally Attracted to Sin: the title, the recording and writing process, its length and a couple of the songs from the record. Whlie a bit too focused for our tastes, it’s actually a pretty good discussion about the record for those curious about it. Perhaps not something for the dedicated Toriphile, but the casual fan or curious listener.

Thanks to velvet and Jenn for finding it!

    E! Online Interview (May 27, 2009)

    Saturday, May 30, 2009 | 03:01 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

My husband said, ‘You’re getting far too involved. You have got to stop mothering the world. You can’t just make it all better and send Louboutins to everyone,’

This teeny-tiny interview, that focuses a lot on American Idol and a little on Tash, popped up on E! Online earlier this week. Not much to say about it except that we’re sure some people will be pleased to learn that Natashya likes to watch House.

Time Out New York Interview (May 28, 2009)

    Saturday, May 30, 2009 | 02:40 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

My father says if he were a dentist, I’d be just screwed.

This brief and playful interview appeared in Time Out New York’s May 28th issue. The latest in their “Bold Questions” series, it touches on sin, being a gay icon, appearing at Comic-con, shoes and, yes, being a minister’s daughter.

Thanks to Jena for catching this!

    PopMatters Interview (May 22, 2009)

    Saturday, May 30, 2009 | 02:33 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

Its one thing that you use emotions in your life to have the energy to sing certain songs, but it’s another thing if you are absorbed by events that are going on that are distracting and so I kind of go into this ‘letting-the-day-go’ process. Getting my personality sort of out of the way, so that I can be the right container to hold the songs, and to really ground myself, I ground myself firmly wherever I am.

PopMatters’ Matt Mazur got the chance to speak with Tori about the new record and asked some pretty interesting questions ranging from David Byrne to PJ Harvey to marijuana to the official bootlegs. The first half of the interview is his review of the record which is not to be skipped either.

    Extra Goodies From Polari!

    Wednesday, May 27, 2009 | 04:37 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

As you may recall, Tori was the cover interview for the fourth issue of Polari magazine. Turns out, even a digital magazine has space limitations! Fortunately, it’s not too hard to make room for additional digital content and, as a result, Polari has posted some extras and out-takes from the interview that did not make the article published in the issue. Topics touched upon are the album artwork, Doug Morris from Universal Republic and her daughter Tash.

Thanks to velvet for the tip!
