    Circuit City Edition ( ... NOT )

    Thursday, May 03, 2007 | 05:17 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

Not really an “edition,” more a marketing glitch really…

According to Chris K, Circuit City’s Sunday ad said they would be offering a 2-CD version of ADP. Chris went in and bought a copy, but it didn’t have 2-CDs, even though the CD was labeled as having 2-CDs. The in-store staff didn’t know anything about it. I returned it.

It sounds as if the standard edition got erroneously labelled as a “2-CD edition” somewhere along the way. We’re not sure if this is happening in more than one store, or if it was just that one location. But it’s just a normal single-CD copy.

    Target Edition Of ADP

    Thursday, May 03, 2007 | 05:09 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

Jessie, Jen T, and Jes wrote to tell us about the Target edition of ADP.

    According to Jes:

“Confirmed. Target does have American Doll Posse with a poster. However for the frugal collectors looking for something special, be warned the poster is actually folded up in the jewel aase, heavily-creased, about the size of a standard piece of computer paper. The creases detract from the image, making it more like an extra piece of the jewel case packaging. If you’re really looking for something special, the Special Edition is the way to go.”

So far, it seems this poster (or posters, we’re not sure whether there’s more than one version) is simply some variation of the album cover.

More On The Borders Exclusive Track

    Wednesday, May 02, 2007 | 01:19 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

According to Toriphile Traci, who just got home from what we hope was not a completely fruitless trip to Borders, the “Drive By Night” Borders Exclusive download-only bonus track is PC only. Correction: Jack tells us this is a WMA file. WMA files are listenable on Macs if you have the Windows Media Player for Mac. Also, he says the file is limited to a one time download.

And we’re back to biting: this file really does seem to be PC only. Jack tells us neither the [discontinued] Windows Media Player 9 for Mac nor Flip4Mac (which normally works for WMA files) will work with this one. Davey says the reason “isn’t Windows Mac compatibility, it’s a DRM [Digital Rights Management] issue; Flip4Mac plays wma files just fine, but only ones that are unprotected.” That translates as “It just don’t play on Macs.

Yet another update: ShippyPap tells us that if Mac users contact Borders tech support, they will give you a new code for the download that will work with a Mac.

And remember, it (still) only comes with the standard edition, not the special edition.

The new site includes much of the same information that was on the teaser-site but now all Flashy for your browsing pleasure! Additionally, there are new sections including a biography, discography, a photo gallery, buddy icons, desktop wallpaper, and a section where you can get to know each member of the Doll Posse in greater detail and find lyrics and track details for all the new songs.

    Target Offers An Exclusive Poster

    Monday, April 30, 2007 | 02:00 UTC | Posted by woj | Releases

In the weekly advertisement Target sent out this weekend, it indicates that they will be including an exclusive poster with purchases of American Doll Posse while supplies last. The folks who wrote in about this mentioned seeing it in circulars in the St. Louis and Cincinnati markets but the digital edition of the weekly confirms this. Thanks to Pat and Fishy for the news! (One assumes that this is not the same as the lithograph that independant record stores are giving away with the album.)

"Borders Exclusive" Track: "Drive All Night"

    Saturday, April 28, 2007 | 12:08 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

A special bonus track called “Drive All Night” will be available as a “Borders Exclusive” download.

We don’t know if this song will ever turn up anywhere else or not. We also don’t know if this is only available in-store or if you get to download the track if you’ve purchased from Borders online (we would imagine so).

Update: As if things weren’t already confusing enough with all the different editions, a Borders employee tells us this track will ONLY be offered when you purchase the “Borders Exclusive” standard (meaning CD-only) edition of ADP, not the special edition CD/DVD combo set. The sale price of the Borders Exclusive edition will be $15.99 in the U.S.

    Thanks, Randy.

    Posse Roll Call: Santa

    Thursday, April 26, 2007 | 21:38 UTC | Posted by Violet | Releases

The latest Tori newsletter introduces Santa. You can also check out her blog.

Santa relates to Aphrodite and is the sensualist of the quintet. “Santa is somebody who’s a girl’s girl,” Tori says. “She understands her fellow sisters and she believes that there is enough love and passion out there for everyone. But she won’t accept that there is something perverted about being very sensual and she won’t drink shame with her sensuality.”
