Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages since we often post quickie updates there when we're on-the-go.
During tours, we do our best to cover setlists in real-time on Twitter. If you want to tweet a show in, just DM or @ us on the day and tell us to watch your stream that night.
Tori is touring in 2017 to support the release of Native Invader. The European legs runs from early September through early October and the North American leg runs from late October to early December. We do not know if additional dates elsewhere will be added.
Be sure to check out our other sections, Tour — where setlists and other concert-related material will be updated daily while Tori is on tour — and You. Lots of interesting stuff!
But I chose years ago that being an ignorant musician is not sexy, to me. It’s all about educating yourself about how [the music industry] works without getting demoralized about it. You have a fantasy about what it’s going to be, and the reality is not what that is. And that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the creative process, but I have to protect that side and shelter that side, and that has taken some doing.
The following interview, in which Tori rather matter-of-frankly discusses touring and the music industry and mentions Autumn 2009 as the emergence of The Light Princess musical, appeared in the December 13th edition of The Santa Barbara Independent. It’s an interesting read though we’re as curious about the “failed marriages” comment in the introduction as the rest of you. Tori, do you have another skeleton in your closet besides Y Kant Tori Read?
Thanks to Kimberly for the link!
Update: The Independent also published an interview with Yoav that may be of interest to some….
The excellently-named Justin Doom reviewed the December 11th show at Phoenix’s Dodge Theatre for azcentral.com. (the same review can also be found on their concert blog.)
Perhaps more interestingly to some, there is a four-photo slideshow with some nice close-ups for the Clyde fans out there.
Check it out!
In honor of the American Doll Posse world tour coming to a close, ToriAmos.com has announced two special holiday offers from Legs & Boots.
First, they are now offering discounts for high-volume bootleg purchasers. Anyone who has bought at 5 shows will receive a 10% discount on future purchases while those who have ponied up to 10 or more shows will get a total of 20% off. Previously purchased shows do count towards your discount level. However, retroactive discounts to those who have already exceeded those counts are not being offered. Alas!
Second, they are giving away two free downloads from the Legs & Boots collection: Amber Waves (from the November 29th Salt Lake City show, judging by the strains of “Caught A Lite Sneeze” as the mp3 fades out) and Not David Bowie (judging by the track number in the filename, this is probably from the Denver show).
Note: we’ve gotten a report that these files downloaded “as a document” for at least one Mac user and could not be played to his iPod. Not being a Mac user myself, I can not verify this. I did not experience any problems getting or playing the mp3s on Windows. However, Luddite that I am, I do not have a portable digital music player, and can not test that second part of the report. A note has been sent to Customer Service about this but haven’t heard if there has been a resolution yet. Any other Mac users out there have issues or solutions? Please Let us know.
Finally, while we have your attention, a gentle reminder to those who have purchased any of the bootlegs: BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP! Their policy is one download per purchase so if your computer crashes or you, er, uh, um, accidentally delete the directory containing all your downloads (not that anyone we know would do that! *whistles innocently*), you’re up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Taking the time to make a backup copy of your purchased files – on CD-R, another hard drive, cassette tape, whatever – is worth it!
Holy crap, a two-doll show! Santa and Izzy both showed up in San Diego tonight. (I know woj is saying, “Why the hell did I let her talk me into going to the Oakland shows?!” right about now. Sorry sorry sorry, dude!)
As someone on one of the forums said, this is what we thought Oakland was going to be: “Mountain,” “Tombigbee,” “Doughnut Song,” “Leather,” “Twinkle,” “SPACE DOG”!
I … I can’t go on. Just go check out the setlist and post your reviews if you’re one of the folks lucky enough to have been there and leave me to cry into my cup of cocoa. sniffle No, don’t worry about me, I’ll … be … okay …
Ah well, at least the rest of us have the promise of reliving the shweet, shweet memories vicariously via Legs & Boots. Files not up yet, but should come soon.
Toriphile Scott just found out he won the LAist.com contest and he has two tickets to the L.A. show on December 16th.
Problem is, Scott can’t go. He lives in Portland and can’t get down to L.A. on such short notice. He’d like to pass the tickets (which come with a free copy of ADP) on to a deserving Toriphile in the L.A. area who can attend this show. He needs to send the LAist.com people the full name and mailing address of the person who is going so their name can be added to the will call list. Then the replacement “winner” will just have to show their driver’s license to pick them up.
If you’re interested in a free pair of tickets to the final show of the tour, send a message to Scott right away. They’ll prolly go quick, so hurry! The LAist.com people need a response from him as soon as possible.
[UPDATE: The tickets are gone. We wish Danny a great time at the show. It’s going to kick ass!]
Clyde opened the concert last night at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, marking one of the few times that the same Doll opened back-to-back shows. While there were no debuts, there were several rarer songs performed including “Purple People” (with the band) and “Black Swan” (solo). “Silent All These Years” balanced out T & Bö. The rest of the set was leavened with “Sweet Sangria”, “Concertina”, “Northern Lad” and, for the final encore, “The Beekeeper”. The full setlist, sent in by jamesy, has been posted in the Tour section. (I should have taken a few more days off work and stayed out West for this one, huh?)
If you were there and would like to share your thoughts about the concert, please do so using the comment form at the bottom of that page (note: we’re a bit behind on comments and other tour stuff right now, but hope to clear out the backlog soon).
This show is already available as a digital download in mp3 format from Legs & Boots, with flac files to come.
Last week, in the run-up to Tori’s three-night stand at The Paramount, SF Weekly became the latest in a long line of periodicals to print D.X. Ferris’ Piano Girl piece — though they sneakily retitled it Piano Posse. More interestingly, they posted a slideshow of photographs from Friday’s show on their All Shook Down blog. Santa’s elves should find something there to whet their appetite!
Thanks Kimberly for the link!
The final night at The Paramount in Oakland was opened by Clyde. Despite some speculation that the show was going to be filmed, no camera crews were in evidence and the concert was a bit more “normal” as far as the proceedings went after the last two nights. As the show is not slated for an official bootleg, covers abounded: Clyde played “Rattlesnakes” while Tori brought forth “Landslide” during the solo T & Bö section. The other T & Bö tune was “Baker Baker” and the rest of the set featured “Josephine,” “Siren,” “The Beekeeper,” and “Digital Ghost.” The full set list has been posted in the Tour section where, as always, we encourage people who were at the show to post their thoughts in the comments.
Pip opened the second of three shows at the Paramount in Oakland last night. Despite the rolling cameras and the potential warning sticker, she swore her way through “Cruel,” “Bliss,” “The Waitress,” and her repertoire of Posse songs. Tori’s set featured “Space Dog,” “Spring Haze,” “Digital Ghost,” and, during T & Bö, “Cloud On My Tongue” and “Winter”. The full setlist (for real this time!) has been posted in the Tour section. If you were at the show and would like to share your thoughts on the evening, please do so using the comment form there.
LAist.com is giving away three pairs of tickets to the December 16th show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. To enter their contest, all you have to do is leave a comment on that blog post telling them what your favorite Tori Amos song is by the end of Monday, December 10th. The three winners will be chosen at random. Good luck!
Thanks to Jason for the tip!
