    Oakland I: Santa Bay-by

    Saturday, December 08, 2007 | 18:02 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The first night of a three-night stand at Oakland’s Paramount Theatre was opened by Santa who played her usual selections of songs and poured the band drinks while the band jammed before “Hoochie Woman”. Tori’s set featured “Sugar”, “Hotel”, “Caught A Lite Sneeze” and, during T & Bö, “Winter” and a very strong “Cooling”. The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section — swing on by to check it out as well as some early reviews from people who were at the show last night. If you would like to add your review to the cacophony, please use the comment form at the bottom of that page.

While this concert was briefly on the list a couple days ago, it is does not appear to be slated for release via Legs & Boots, presumably because the DVD filming. It’s probably safe to assume that tonight’s show was removed for the same reason. However, we do not know why the third show, which initially remained after the first two were removed, has since disappeared from the list.

Also, as reported by several people, Smitty informed those waiting outside the Paramount before the show yesterday that there would be no meet and greets either before or after any of the Oakland shows due to the tight schedule with the filming and other promotional activities.

Seattle Times Concert Review (December 6, 2007)

    Saturday, December 08, 2007 | 17:35 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews,Touring

The Seattle Times’ Joanna Horowitz also attended and reviewed the Seattle concert. As you might expect, this is a wee bit more journalistic than the Seattle Weekly review, but still paints an accurate picture of the evening. The review appeared in the December 6th edition of the paper.

Seattle Weekly Concert Review (December 6, 2007)

    Saturday, December 08, 2007 | 17:28 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews,Touring

Travis Ritter reviewed the December 5th concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle for Seattle Weekly’s music blog Reverb. While he initially casts a skeptical eye, he did seem to have a good time. We’re not sure if this piece eventually showed (or shows) up in the print edition of the publication — if anyone in the Seattle area happens to notice, please let us know.

Also, you can find a nice slideshow of photographs from the show on their site as well.

Thanks again to Kimberly for the link!

    Examiner Article (December 5, 2007)

    Saturday, December 08, 2007 | 17:14 UTC | Posted by woj | Articles

It’s up to each one of us women to start asking the right questions now. And I had to talk to women about what they were feeling in order for them to then say ‘OK — now that I’ve looked at my own personal life, I can look at how I feel about my own country, the world, and the rights for women in 10 years.’ I mean, seriously — where’s that going to be?

The following article appeared in the December 5th edition of Bay Ares newspaper The Examiner. Thanks to Kimberly for bringing it to our attention!

Seattle: I'm A Believer In Pip, Bitch!

    Thursday, December 06, 2007 | 12:28 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Pip opened the show at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre last night. As this concert was not slated for release as an official bootleg, it was a covers-fest, so “Heart of Gold” was featured during her set. Tori, meanwhile, pulled out three covers: The Monkees’ “I’m A Believer” during the first encore, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in a nod to Seattle during T & Bö, and “Rattlesnakes” during the regular part of her set. T & Bö was completed with “Seaside”.

The full setlist, thanks to Brian Smith, has been posted, along with some early reviews. If you would like to share your thoughts about the evening, please do so using the comment form there!

    KINK In-Studio Report

    Wednesday, December 05, 2007 | 22:42 UTC | Posted by Violet | TV/Radio/Web

Toriphile Scott sent the following report on Tori’s performance at KINK in Portland yesterday:

I went to the Kink FM concert this afternoon and just thought I’d let you know what happened. I got there around 12:30pm and then 15 minutes later, one of the Kink employees came to the lobby and told us that Tori just got here and she’s running a little late. They were going to go upstairs and do a soundcheck and then bring us up. Tori then got out of a black SUV and came in the front door and went up the stairs to the studio. She smiled as she walked through the lobby, but didn’t say anything. She was wearing her red wig when she arrived. It was only about 20 minutes later that they brought us upstairs to the studio after giving us laniards to wear. It had a picture from the Beekeeper album on it and today’s date. There were probably about 20 people in the studio. Tori came out shortly after we sat down. She was playing their upright Steinway piano and the sound quality was really good in the studio. They got started right away and reminded us that it was going to be recorded for playback on the radio at 3:30pm and could possibly be used in an upcoming Kink CD. She started out with “Silent All These Years”, then followed up with “Little Drummer Boy” which was quite a treat! I think she was only going to do 2 songs but then she finished with “Almost Rosey.” We all thought she would stick around and sign autographs and take pictures, but after she was finished, she talked to the two djs for a couple minutes and then they hurried her out of the studio. It all went by very quickly, but she sounded wonderful and it was a very memorable experience.

    Isabel Puffs In Portland

    Wednesday, December 05, 2007 | 12:25 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Despite flooding rains, heavy winds and highway closures, the American Doll Posse tour steamed into Portland, with Isabel leading the way by the light of her smokin’ cigarette. Highlights of the evening include “Spring Haze”, “Hotel” (despite flubbing it again), and all of T & Bö: “Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”, “Beulah Land” and “Carbon”. The complete setlist, thanks to Brian Smith, can be found in the Tour section.

If you were at the show and would like to share your thoughts about the performance, please feel free to do so using the comment form at the bottom of that page!

Unfortunately, this show is not on the docket for release via Legs & Boots.

    Vancouver: Santa Comes To Canada

    Tuesday, December 04, 2007 | 12:12 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Santa warmed the hearts and toes of those at Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre last night. Much to the joy of many, as this show is slated for release as an official bootleg, “Bug A Martini” returned to Santa’s set. Tori’s set included the debut of another of Scarlet’s Hidden Treasures: “Ruby Through The Looking Glass” which was the second song during T & Bö (the first was a heart-rending performance of “Winter”). The encore was short — only “Precious Things” was played before the lights came up. Perhaps the show was shortened to get a head-start on the haul to Portland? (That trip has no doubt been complicated by the closure of I-5 in Southwestern Washington — if we hear anything about this impacting tonight’s show, we’ll be sure to post about it.)

The full setlist has been posted in the Tour section. If you were there, please feel free to post your review of the show using the comment form at the bottom of that page!
