Pop Matters Concert Analysis (November 9-12, 2007)

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 04:48 UTC | Posted by woj | Reviews,Touring

Matt Mazur, who interviewed Tori for Pop Matters over the summer, has written another piece for the same publication: a two-part essay discussing Tori’s portrayal of the Doll Posse during the concerts he saw on the tour, in particular the most overlooked member: Tori herself.

The first part was published on November 9th while the second part hit the virtual magazine stand today, November 12th.

Thanks to DMC for the link!

    Blender Interview Redux

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 03:07 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Blender has posted the second part of their interview with Tori (did you miss the first part?). In this edition, Tori tackles the thorny issue of party music, pans Britney Spears’ “Toxic”, and grabs her crotch. Can’t go wrong with that!

Thanks Ed for the head’s up! And thanks to toritattoo for freeing the clip from the shackles of Blender!

The Next Big Thing (October 22, 2007)

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 03:06 UTC | Posted by Saar | Minutiae

Tori appears to be in the Global Panel for The Next Big Thing 2007.

As part of the BBC World Service’s Free to Speak season, BBC World launches a major global music talent search: ‘The Next Big Thing 2007’. According to the website, anyone without a record deal can enter. At the end of November, the longlist of the best 20 tracks will be sent to be reviewed by the Global Panel. At the same time, BBC World will invite listeners to comment on their favourite tracks on MySpace. The winners will be picked by a Grand Jury of big-name music industry judges. The winner will carry the title: “The Next Big Thing 2007” and will have their music played on BBC World. They will also be invited to perform onstage alongside a star band at a global concert to celebrate 75 years of BBC World Service broadcasting on 15 December 2007.

Omaha: Mutual of Santa's Wild Kingdom

    Sunday, November 11, 2007 | 06:30 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Santa swang through Nebraska last night, opening the show at the Omaha Music Hall. While “Raspberry Swirl” came out to play for the second time this tour, that was overshadowed by the first-ever performances of “Bug A Martini” (from Scarlet’s Hidden Treasures) and “Peeping Tommi” (from A Piano)! The latter was played solo during the “T & Bö” portion of the evening that was completed by “Leather”. Other highlights of the evening included “She’s Your Cocaine” and “Father Lucifer”. The full setlist is posted in the Tour section.

If you were there and would like to share your opinion about the performance, please use the comment form at the bottom of the Omaha page.

Unfortunately, it appears that this show is no longer on the pre-order list at Legs & Boots. I’m pretty sure it was there before though but it looks like the Lawrence show has replaced it (I’m pretty sure Lawrence was not on the list previously), so perhaps Omaha was listed in error earlier.

Update: Several people have contacted the Legs & Boots customer support and were told that the Omaha concert will not be released due to technical issues during the performance. Thanks to toritattoo and Alan for letting us know.

    Lawrence: Clyde In The Heartland

    Saturday, November 10, 2007 | 22:23 UTC | Posted by Violet | Touring

Clyde came out to play in Kansas last night. The show wasn’t the char-fest that many fans were hoping for, but a few songs on the theme of injustice/intolerance did slide in (“Little Amsterdam,” “Virginia,” “Juarez,” “Mother Revolution”). Tori also made a point of mentioning that [her guitarist] Dan Phelps was not related to Fred Phelps. “Frog On My Toe” made its first appearance this tour.

If you were at this show, head over to the Tour section to share your experience.

This concert is available for purchase as a digital download from Legs & Boots.

A Picket Party: Peace, Love, and ... Kumbaya!

    Friday, November 09, 2007 | 23:11 UTC | Posted by Violet | Touring

Seems the kind and gentle God Hates Fags folks will be picketing the show in Lawrence, Kansas, this evening from 7:15-8:00pm.

This group is monitored by the Anti-Defamation League and classified by many as a hate group.

These peeps are clearly in need of some serious schnoogling! Take them some cookies, give them hugs, dance and wear party hats, sing a round of “Kumbaya” for them … whatever it takes to demonstrate that Tori and Toriphiles are all about the peace and lurve. (Perhaps best to leave the hard cocks at home for this one.)

Thanks to Jen for the tip.

UPDATE: We’re told Miss T.‘s crew are all decked out in the “Homo Spirituality” t-shirts [that are being sold on this tour] for the occasion. Go Team Tori!!!

Charlotte Observer Interview (November 8, 2007)

    Friday, November 09, 2007 | 10:47 UTC | Posted by Saar | Articles

There’s an ingenuous nurturing spirit that I associate with North Carolina.

The Charlotte Observer published a short, but interesting interview in which Tori talks about family and her North Carolina roots.
