What Perez Sez About ... Big Divas!

    Friday, November 16, 2007 | 02:46 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Perez Hilton has confirmed, via a YouTube video, that Tori will be on an upcoming episode of his VH1 program, What Perez Sez. The show’s subject will be divas. Imagine that! No word on when the show will air, but soon as that dirt is dished, we’ll be sure to post it.

Thanks to Brian Smith and Saar for the tip.

    Santa in Hotlanta

    Thursday, November 15, 2007 | 05:12 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Santa opened the show tonight at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. She added a new song to her oeuvre this evening: her version of “Carnival”, from the soundtrack of the film Black Orpheus . (To clarify since people have been calling us on this: that film is the original source of the song. Tori’s cover of it, of course, appeared on the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack.) This was a tour debut and the first time Tori’s performed it since 2003. “The Power Of Orange Knickers” was played for the second time in three nights. The solo T & Bö portion of the concert consisted of “Beulah Land” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The full setlist, thanks to spinnyboy and Marbs, has been posted in the Tour section.

If you were there and want to share what you thought of the performance, please use the comment form at the bottom of that page.

This show is not slated for release as an official bootleg via Legs & Boots.

Tori On The Current Video (November 7, 2007)

    Wednesday, November 14, 2007 | 19:10 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web,Video

The promised video clips of Tori’s appearance on The Current have been posted! Those clever Current web-monkeys leverage their video distribution needs with YouTube, and have actually posted a slew of video clips of their in-studio guests.

There are currently (ha ha) three posted — Silent All These Years, Almost Rosey and Tori’s conversation with Mary Lucia — and the video for “Leather” should be added soon. For your viewing convenience, they’re embedded after the jump.

Thanks to Michael Wells at The Current for letting us know!

Update: Leather has been added too!

Charlotte: She'll Be Coming 'Round The Mountain...

    Wednesday, November 14, 2007 | 05:50 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

The November 13th show at Ovens Auditorium was opened by Clyde whose set featured the return of “Rattlesnakes” (a cover, as the show is not slated for release via Legs & Boots). Tori’s portion of the evening, however, contains the big surprise: the first-ever performance of “Mountain”, a Scarlet’s Walk b-side that fans have been requesting for many moons. She also covered James Taylor’s “Carolina On My Mind” (played during a band segment, but performed solo) and played “Marianne” and Leonard Cohen’s “Famous Blue Raincoat” during the solo T & Bö section.

The full setlist, thanks to spinnyboy and jupitre is now posted on the Charlotte page in the Tour section.

If you were there and would like to share your thoughts on the evening, we’d love to hear them! You can do so using the comment form at the bottom of the Charlotte page.

    Isabel Visits Nashville

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 06:22 UTC | Posted by woj | Touring

Tonight’s show at Andrew Jackson Hall at TPAC was opened by Isabel. While she didn’t add to her repertoire, Tori did by debuting “The Power Of Orange Knickers” with the band. Other interesting songs performed this evening included “Glory Of The 80s”, “Cool On Your Island” (during T & Bö), “Cooling” (also during T & Bö, including the brambles verse), and “Hotel”. Check out the full setlist, thanks to spinnyboy and Marbs, in the Tour section.

If you were there and want to comment on the performance, we’d love to hear what you thought! Please do so using the comment form at the bottom of the Nashville page.

A recording of this concert should be available on Legs & Boots soon!

PJ's In. How About You Guys, Tori and Björk?

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 06:06 UTC | Posted by woj | Cherries,Video

In a recent interview for Spinner, PJ Harvey ‘fesses up to wanting to sit down with Tori and Björk again, like they did for the cover shoot of the May 1994 issue of Q. PJ answers the question about 4 minutes into the interview, which you can view below. Thanks to Jessica Robertson for thinking to asking about this as we know many Toriphiles would certainly like to see it happen — preferably in a studio!

Tori On Sound Opinions In December

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 05:45 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Intrepid investigative reporter AmyWaz contacted The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot about the photos that appeared with his review in the paper. In his response, Greg mentioned that he and Jim DeRogatis, Greg’s counterpart at The Chicago Sun-Times, interviewed Tori for their Chicago Public Radio program Sound Opinions while she was in town last week. The interview will be aired in December. (For those not in the broadcast range of any of the radio stations that carry the program, have no fear! The show is archived on their website and is also available as a podcast.)

Tori On Later... On Demand ... Again

    Tuesday, November 13, 2007 | 05:20 UTC | Posted by woj | TV/Radio/Web

Christopher Hernandez reports that the 1992 episode of Later With Jools Holland featuring Tori’s performance of “Me And A Gun” and “Here. In My Head” is again available on concert.tv. (It was on back in May as well.)

Concert.tv is available on Comcast (via OnDemand/Channel 1), Charter Cable (channel 999), and Cox cable systems in the United States. Looks like this rare footage will be available for the month of November.

To whet the appetite of those who can watch concert.tv or soothe those who can not, clips of both performances can be found on YouTube: the show’s intro, Me And A Gun and Here. In My Head.
